Hello, I’m Amanda, the creator of 30 More Outdoors, and I am so excited to be building an outdoor inspired community meant for busy parents.
As a mother of three young children, I am intimately familiar with the struggle- feeling like you are never doing enough, carrying the mental load, and the nagging parent guilt. It often leads to us putting everyone else’s needs before our own. This became especially clear when I took a step back to reflect on one of my passions—getting outdoors.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of nature on individual well-being and that’s why I’ve always made sure my kids get plenty of outdoor time. But of course, I’d often use their outdoor time to tackle chores, catch up on work, or just sit on my phone and doom scroll.

One day it hit me—knowing all the (scientifically proven) benefits of being outside, why wasn’t I giving myself the same care I was giving my children?
Like your typical millennial suburban mom, I first looked online for a like-minded group I could join. I thought it would be easy to find something that would motivate my children AND me to get outside and I joined another outdoors challenge. However, I quickly noticed that the most vocal parents in this outdoor group were often the most judgmental. According to them, if you weren’t meticulously homeschooling your kids and outside for 10 hours each day (complete with homemade snow ice-cream and self-written lesson plans), could you even call yourself a parent?
I grew tired of sifting through posts filled with public school shaming and endless debates on whether tent camping counted as “being outdoors.” I wanted simple ways to engage my family outside for the 30 minutes between school and soccer practice. I wanted activities that I, as an adult, would enjoy outdoors. And I wanted a challenge that felt inclusive to anyone who was looking for a reason to get outside. So I decided to build a real community of busy parents that were ready to prioritize their own wellness, and drag their family along for the adventure.
Why 30 minutes?
Because, research proves that spending 20-30 minutes outside is when you start experiencing benefits in other areas of your life – reduced stress, better sleep, lower depression rates, and more.
Why 30 days?
Because our goal is to form a habit!
